Most of the tire is on, but the last section feels impossibly short. Before reaching for a longer lever, check where the rest of the bead is sitting. Once the tire and rim are confirmed compatible, moving that reinforced tire edge into the rim's deeper well can give you the slack you're missing.
Rule Out a Fit Problem First
Check the ISO/ETRTO bead-seat diameter on the tire against the rim's specification. Matching inch labels alone is not enough. The diameter must match, and the tire width and rim design must also be approved for that combination. If you cannot confirm the fit, stop rather than trying to stretch the tire into compatibility.
If this same tire fitted before, ask what changed. An oversized replacement tube can bunch inside the casing. Extra or unusually thick rim tape can leave less room for mounting. Correct the setup to the rim maker's requirements; don't peel away necessary protection just to get the tire on.
Move the Fitted Bead Into the Rim Well
With an inner tube, release excess air so it stays soft rather than holding the tire outward. Don't try to gain space by adding pressure while part of the bead is still outside the rim.
Start away from the stubborn section. Squeeze the already fitted parts of the bead inward, into the deeper well between the rim's shoulders. Work around toward the remaining section, keeping the earlier portions down. If they climb back onto the shoulders, the apparent slack disappears again.
The well gives the bead a smaller circle to follow. You're borrowing room from the fitted portion, not trying to stretch the final bit of bead.
Unless the tire maker specifies another sequence, work from opposite the valve and finish at the valve. Keep the tube clear of the bead; don't force the valve sideways. A helper holding the opposite section in the well can be more useful than another lever.
When handling an electric bike wheel, support it without resting it on the brake rotor or pulling on a motor cable.
Finish Without Trading a Tight Fit for Damage
Try rolling the remaining bead over the rim with your palms. If it still needs a tool, use a suitable plastic tire lever only where the tire and rim makers permit it. Work in small sections and avoid catching the tube underneath.
Stop if the tool slips repeatedly, the bead is being damaged, or the job requires extreme force. A screwdriver, heat, or a longer metal lever is not the next step. Have a shop check the combination and fitting method.
Once the bead is inside the rim, inspect both sides for trapped tube. Begin inflation cautiously and check that the molded bead line, if present, runs evenly beside the rim. If it rises, dips, or the tube shows, deflate and correct the fit. Don't force an uneven tire into place with excess pressure.
