Your tire width falls within a wall rack's published range, yet the front wheel will not settle into the holder. The missing measurement may be the fender or its support stays. A rack can fit the rubber and still contact hardware that was never meant to carry the bike.
Identify What Stops the Wheel
Keep the bike supported on the floor and bring the empty rack or its fit template to the front wheel. Do not load the wall mount as a trial. Look at the first point that would touch: tire tread, fender shell, fender stay, light bracket, or another accessory.
Photograph that contact from the side and front. A clear image helps the rack maker distinguish a tire-width problem from a fender-geometry problem without asking you to force the wheel farther into the holder.
A holder labeled for fat tires is not necessarily fender-compatible. Those labels answer different questions. The tire range describes the wheel channel or cradle; fender compatibility describes whether the rack can support and restrain the wheel without crushing or bypassing the fender.
Check Four Conditions Together
Use the rack maker's chart for the exact model and check bike weight, wheel diameter, tire width, and fender geometry. Some rack families offer different versions for wide tires and fenders, and their limits should not be mixed just because the products look similar.
Pay particular attention to the distance between the tire and the fender stays at the location shown in the rack instructions. A clearance value from one rack design does not transfer to another. If the chart calls for a measurement you cannot obtain, send the maker a side photo and the bike's actual dimensions before buying.
Confirm the Intended Contact Area
For a compatible setup, the wheel must reach the designed support surface and any retaining part must close through its full path. The fender should not be the load-bearing stop. It also should not need to flex, scrape, or move a stay out of position for the wheel to enter.
If the wheel appears seated only because the tire is compressed against the fender, stop. Extra pressure does not establish a secure fit, and a bike that hangs momentarily is not proof that the contact is correct.
Choose Another Approved Fit Instead of Forcing It
Do not bend a fender stay, remove a required part, or cut the rack to make the combination work. Use a different rack model whose instructions cover the complete wheel-and-fender arrangement, or return to floor storage.
