Gazelle Arroyo C380 Elite vs Macfox X1S: Easier Mounting or More Flexible Effort?

A bike can be comfortable while moving and still be awkward to get on. Gazelle Arroyo C380 Elite pays particular attention to that first step, with a low, open frame and upright cockpit. Macfox X1S puts a long padded seat and throttle assistance at the center of its daily ride. Both address comfort, but they help at different moments.

Getting on is different from putting a foot down

Arroyo's low-step frame gives the rider room to pass a leg through rather than swing it over a high top tube. This can be useful when wearing everyday clothes or when luggage occupies the rear of the bike. Its curved handlebar and adjustable stem then help bring the controls toward the rider for an upright position.

The saddle still needs to be set for the rider's legs. A low frame opening does not automatically mean both feet will sit flat on the ground while seated. It solves the mounting movement; saddle height solves a different part of the fit.

X1S has a long seat listed at 31.5 inches. For a rider who likes that position, the bench-style surface offers space to shift forward or back during an outing. It is a different seating arrangement, not an equivalent to Gazelle's low-step opening. The distinction is useful if stepping over a frame is the particular action you want to make easier.

Quiet pedaling with small changes in effort

Arroyo C380 Elite uses a Bosch Performance Line mid-drive, an Enviolo stepless hub, and a Gates belt. You adjust the ratio with a twist control rather than selecting numbered gears. A small rise in the road can be met with a small change in ratio, helping you keep the cadence you find comfortable.

The belt removes chain lubrication from the routine. For frequent local trips, that is a convenient way to keep the drivetrain clean without handling an oily chain. The bike also has a 50mm suspension fork and relatively broad 50mm tires, adding cushioning while retaining its upright bicycle layout.

Its integrated lights, fenders, and MIK HD rear carrier contribute to the same daily-use purpose. A bag has a defined place on the bike, and wet-road spray protection is already installed. This equipment makes particular sense when an errand ride is part of the weekly routine rather than an occasional outing.

X1S makes easing off the pedals part of comfort

The Macfox X1S electric bike combines front suspension and 20 x 4.0-inch tires with the long seat. Those features help cushion imperfect pavement. The thumb throttle gives the rider another way to manage the trip: pedal when that is enjoyable, then use motor power without turning the pedals when a break from the effort is welcome.

Its single-speed drivetrain requires no ratio changes. That can be appealing on familiar routes with repeated short stops, where the rider would rather keep the controls straightforward. Current X1S equipment includes hydraulic disc brakes and a removable 500Wh battery, so daily convenience is not limited to the throttle alone.

Arroyo's adjustable saddle and stepless drivetrain are especially useful to someone who intends to keep pedaling. X1S's seat and controls are especially useful to someone who wants more freedom over when to pedal. Both are reasonable approaches to a comfortable ride around town.

Match the bike to the movement you want to improve

If mounting the bike and keeping an upright, adjustable pedal position are your priorities, Arroyo C380 Elite offers a well-integrated answer. If sitting comfortably and reducing pedal effort when you choose are the priorities, X1S is a strong daily e-bike candidate. “Easy to ride” becomes more useful when you identify whether the difficult part is getting on, finding a pedal rhythm, or maintaining effort between stops.
