A center display can leave plenty of room for a basket but too little room for its mount. Before ordering a handlebar basket for your electric bike, check three things separately: where the bracket clamps, how far it reaches around the display, and where its support cable must run.
Buying the wider bracket only answers one of those questions. Keep the bike parked and powered off while taking measurements; leave the display and riding controls in their installed positions.
Measure the Space the Bracket Actually Needs
Find the straight handlebar sections where the proposed clamps would sit. Measure the bar diameter there, not at the grip or somewhere closer to the stem. Record how much usable straight bar is available on each side of the display.
Next, measure the display assembly as a whole. Include its housing, buttons, mounting arms, and cable exits. A narrow screen can still have a wide mounting base, and a cable connector can project beyond the housing.
Take a top photograph and a side photograph with a ruler visible. Label the dimensions rather than expecting the basket seller to estimate them from a picture. Broader accessory fit checks are useful for the rest of the setup, but this decision needs the actual mount's dimensions.
Compare Width and Reach Separately
PDW's Bodega Basket offers a concrete example. Its standard bracket has a 50 mm internal width and a 32 mm distance to the handlebar. The large/e-bike bracket has a 75 mm internal width and a 48 mm distance to the handlebar. The listed handlebar diameter range is 22.0-31.8 mm.
Those are dimensions for that bracket, not a universal basket standard or a promise of fit on your bike. The wider option also provides more front-to-back space, which matters when a display projects forward of the bar.
Compare both measurements with a dimensioned drawing. If you cannot tell exactly where a quoted distance starts and ends, ask before ordering. Do not subtract the screen width from the bracket width and call the remainder safe clearance: the mounting arms and cable exits still need room.
Leave Room for the Support Cable and Steering
The PDW mount also uses a support cable routed under the stem and over the handlebar. That cable belongs in the fit check. A bracket that fits only when its required cable is omitted is not a workable installation.
Check the intended bracket, basket, and cable positions through the bike's steering travel. Look for conflicts with the display, light, brake hoses, and control cables. Do not move a riding control out of reach or pinch a cable to make the basket fit.
If any part of the route is unclear, send the manufacturer your labeled photographs, bar diameter, and exact bracket version. Ask whether the complete mounting system fits as designed. An unresolved interference is a reason to stop that installation, not to bend the bracket or improvise another support.
