When an e-bike display turns on but the bike will not move, the problem is not automatically the display. The screen only proves that part of the electrical system is awake. Movement still depends on the battery connection, brake cutoff behavior, assist settings, throttle response, pedal assist signal, wiring, and motor response.

Stop Testing in Traffic
If the bike will not move normally, do not keep testing it in traffic, on a hill, or in a crowded area. Move it to a flat, open place where a sudden start will not create a new problem.
For any electric bike, a no-move symptom can change quickly if a loose connection, brake signal, or control input begins working again. Treat the first test as a safety check, not a ride.
Separate Power From Movement
Write down what still works. Does the display turn on? Do lights work? Does the battery indicator appear normal? Does the wheel spin by hand? Does the throttle respond at all? Does pedal assist work after one or two crank rotations?
These notes help separate a display issue from a drive issue. A bike with a lit display and no throttle is different from a bike with a lit display, no pedal assist, and a wheel that feels stuck.
Check the Basic External Conditions
Confirm that the charger is unplugged, the battery is seated, the bike is in the expected assist or ride mode, and the brake levers are not being held. If the bike has a kickstand sensor, walk mode, or other safety setting, note what the display shows before changing anything.
Do not open sealed parts or pull connectors if you are unsure. If something looks loose, pinched, wet, or damaged, photograph it instead.
Record One Clear Video
Record the display, your hand on the control you are testing, and the wheel or bike response in the same clip. If the throttle does nothing but pedal assist works, show both. If neither works, show that too.
Also record whether a brake lever is being touched. A stuck brake cutoff signal can make a bike feel completely dead even when the display looks normal.
