Macfox vs Juiced: Class 2 vs Class 3
Every Macfox e-bike is Class 2 with a 20 mph max. Juiced lists its e-bike as switchable up to Class 3, with a top assisted speed of 28 mph. If you're choosing an e-bike for a teen's ride to school, the e-bike class matters, because some states set age rules by class.
Class 2 vs Class 3: what's the difference?
- Class 2: has a throttle, and the motor stops assisting at 20 mph.
- Class 3: pedal assist that stops assisting at 28 mph.
In California, Vehicle Code §21213 says a person under 16 may not operate a Class 3 electric bicycle. (Read CA Vehicle Code 21213)
Rules differ by state and city, so check your state's rules before you ride.
