Battery Recall Contact Does Not Respond: What Can You Escalate?

If you have matched your electric bike or battery to an official U.S. recall and the company is not responding, check what remains unresolved before escalating. The CPSC Recall Complaint Form is for problems obtaining a recall remedy after contacting the company, not the initial application for that remedy.

While you wait, keep following the safety directions in the exact recall notice. A delayed response does not suspend a stop-use instruction.

Check the Notice Against Your Submission

Reopen the official recall notice and confirm the model, identifying numbers, and affected batch against your product. Use its Consumer Contact details, rather than an old order email or an address copied from someone else's experience.

Compare the requested information with what you actually sent. Check that the photographs or documents attached successfully and that your reply address is correct. Look for an acknowledgment, case number, request for additional information, or message in your spam folder.

A sent email and a confirmed complete submission are different records. Keep both, and label anything you cannot verify. If the company supplied a response timeline, record it with the date you submitted the requested information; do not invent a deadline from another person's case.

Your existing purchase and product records can help identify the item. However, a recall remedy is not an ordinary warranty application: follow the recall's own requirements.

Describe the Unresolved Step

Build a short timeline that another person can follow:

  • [Date and channel] Contacted the company listed in the notice.
  • [Date] Sent the required information: [list].
  • [Date] Received [acknowledgment or request], or no response received.
  • [Current issue] Still waiting for [specific remedy step].

If the remedy remains unresolved after company contact, use the CPSC Recall Complaint Form. Identify the product or provide the recall notice's web address, then explain the missing response or stalled step. Include the contact history rather than a general accusation that the company is ignoring everyone.

CPSC uses these complaints to monitor how recall remedies are being provided. It does not negotiate a larger individual refund for you. Submitting the form is an escalation record, not confirmation that a replacement or payment has been approved.

Keep the Safety and Complaint Paths Separate

Use the instructions for your own recall while pursuing the complaint. Do not copy battery-cutting, marking, or disposal directions from an unrelated recall to create evidence for yours.

If disposal is required, confirm the specified safe handoff before transporting the battery. Recalled lithium-ion batteries do not belong in household trash, ordinary recycling, or a standard retail battery collection box. Contact the appropriate hazardous-waste facility about accepting the recalled battery.

If your product is not recalled but you believe it is hazardous, CPSC directs reports to SaferProducts.gov instead of the recall-remedy complaint form. Preserve the relevant notice and your next contact record so the safety instructions and the unresolved remedy remain clear.
